21 brilliant photos as fans in Leeds prepare for late England and Mexico World Cup clash

It might be a late kick-off but fans are still flying the flag for England in Leeds 🦁

England fans in Leeds weren’t letting a late kick-off dampen their spirits as they prepare for England’s World Cup clash against Mexico.

Fans were out at the Beck and Call pub this evening as they prepare for a 2am kick-off to see whether the Three Lions can roar their way to the quarter finals.

The match was due to kick-off at 6pm local time (1am UK), but with the threat of lightning in the area, the stadium activated its thunderstorm protocol less than an hour before then and the game will now commence at 7pm (2am UK).

Bukayo Saka, Anthony Gordon and Jarell Quansah returned to the England side as Thomas Tuchel made three changes for the last-16 contest with Mexico at the Estadio Azteca, which was delayed by an hour.

Saka replaces Arsenal team-mate Noni Madueke on the right, with Anthony Gordon rewarded for his two assists against the Democratic Republic of Congo on Wednesday by coming in for Marcus Rashford on the left.

Quansah returns to right-back after he overcame an ankle injury sustained against Panama in the final group game, replacing Djed Spence, who is nursing a muscle injury.
