Firms are flocking to Wear it Yellow for the Tour de France

More than 30 businesses, schools and communities across the region have promised to wear something yellow and raise money for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance (YAA) on Thursday July 3.
The Yorkshire Evening Post’s Wear it Yellow Day asks organisations to add their names to our regularly-published roll of honour, encourage individuals to wear yellow on the day and donate £1 each to YAA in the process.

This week is Local Newspaper Week, which is centred on ways that newspapers can make a difference. We have teamed up with the Yorkshire Air Ambulance in a bid to both raise money for charity and celebrate the Tour de France Grand Depart from the region on July 5 and 6.
YAA spokeswoman Abby McClymont said: “We’ve had a fantastic reaction to the Yellow Yorkshire campaign since its launch and have been quite overwhelmed by the reception from businesses and organisations across Yorkshire which has been so positive.
“There are some fantastic yellow-themed ideas coming through and we are excited to hear of the plans that people have to help support us.”

Hide AdWear it Yellow Day is the focal point of the YEP’s interactive Yellow Yorkshire campaign, in which we are urging people all over Yorkshire to go yellow for the Tour de France and send us their yellow pictures and stories to feature both in-paper and on our website.

Our multimedia campaign is encouraging readers to tell about everything from bake-offs and sunflower-filled gardens to fun fancy dress days and fundraisers – but all with a yellow theme.
Ms McClymont added: “The more the merrier and we are still encouraging as many people as possible to get involved and support Yellow Yorkshire and the YAA.
“All the monies raised from the day will go towards keeping both of our helicopters in the air and saving lives.”
