Bradford League: Powerhouse performance put Pudsey Congs back on track

Replying, Gareth Phillips side then dismissed Cleck for 169, Geldart completing his good day with 3-21 as the Britannia Ground outfit inflicted a fourth successive defeat on the visitors.

Meanwhile at the top, there looks to be no stopping Congs’ town rivals Pudsey St Lawrence (222-6) who piled on more woe for Morley (196), who fell into the bottom two after their fifth straight loss.

In mitigation, Morley did show spirit en route to defeat, James McNichol top-scoring with 61, with Steven Watts taking 4-40 for the winners.

St Lawrence earlier mustered 222-6, with David Nebard curtailing their progress with 4-62.

The leaders remain 26 points ahead of Hanging Heaton, who produced a confident 112-run win over Bradford and Bingley.

The irrepressible Gary Fellows hit a fine 101 for the Tewits to his seasonal run tally to an outstanding 956 – sharing in a dream opening stand worth 176 with Nick Connolly (76) in their side’s knock of 240-6.

Replying, B&B were chastened for 112, David Stiff wreaking havoc with 4-9, backed by Muhammed Rameez (3-30).

Farsley (144-5) are flying high in third after an accomplished five-wicket win over Woodlands (142-8).

Contributions for the Red Laners arrived from Mark Harrison (3-31), Chris Henry (3-340, James Pickles (52) and Dan Hodgson (39).

At the bottom, Scholes (150-8) were edged out by New Farnley (151-9), who are up to fourth.

Farnley’s best were Mark Lawson (51) and Lee Goddard, Mo Bilal taking 3-32.

Elsewhere, Luke Jarvis helped himself to 5-36 as East Bierley (151) narrowly overcame Lightcliffe (144) by seven runs.

Scholes remain at the foot of the table, 19 points behind Morley and 25 adrift of B&B. Congs are up to fourth from bottom.
