New residential neurorehab clinic opens in Sheffield: Stroke, brain injury and orthopaedic recovery

A new residential clinic has opened in Sheffield, with the aim of helping people improve their mobility and independence through care and neurorehabilitation.

It specialises in working with people healing from nervous system injuries, such as accidents or medical incidents. Patients live on-site for intensive rehabilitation, helping improve their physical and mental wellbeing. There are also non-residential clinics and appointments available.

Neu Living offers personalised and expert care aimed at enhancing, preserving or regaining physical strength, cognitive function and mobility.

According to the team at Neu Living, which is on Grimesthorpe Road, the new clinic which opens early 2025, combines established treatment techniques and advanced technology to help produce results. Patients are part of a nurturing community of people going through similar experiences, and each of the staff has a compassionate and positive approach to care.

The services are open to any adults over the age of 18, subject to individual needs and criteria.

The services offered include those for oncology rehabilitation, neurological conditions, post amputation rehab, brain injuries, strokes, orthopaedic injuries and trauma.

What treatments and therapies are available?

There’s a wide range of Neu Living treatments, including physiotherapy, hydrotherapy In their dedicated pool, whirlpool and spa, occupational therapies to help enhance functional independence or cognitive skills, and rehabilitation services, to help ease the transition from hospital to home, to aid improvements in mobility and movement, and to help with mental health.

And alongside the medical interventions a programme of activities such as games, arts and crafts, walks and cycling may be appropriate for the patient.

Respite care

The Neu Living Sheffield centre also offers respite care services, to give caregivers time to recharge.

How does referral work?

Patients can self-refer, or a referral can come via a family member, physician or legal appointee. An admissions specialist reviews each case individually, and, if Neu Living is appropriate, can arrange a visit and tour. Visits for potential patients and their families can be arranged any day of the week, including weekends.

Who covers the costs?

Some patients have private health insurance for managed care, some have workers’ compensation or legal settlements and some are self-funded. Costs are agreed in advance.
