“Everyone connected to Holmfirth High is very proud of our school. Our standards are high and we work tirelessly to create a school where our young people can enjoy and achieve their education.
“Open Evening will run from 5- 8pm and you are welcome to arrive at any time during this period, although you may wish to note that there will be three formal presentations in the school hall.”
Ben StitchmanThe evening will also provide an opportunity for you to take a tour of our facilities, sampling lessons and activities which will be taking place in each department, meet members of the team and also some of our pupils. I do hope that you are able to attend and look forward to meeting you.
Enjoying school life
Holmfirth High school has one of the best attendance records in Kirklees and, in fact, also ranks high for the UK. It puts the reason down to the fact that its pupils are happy, contented and safe to enjoy their schooldays.

Six guiding principles at the school are: Attendance, behaviour, classroom, extra-curricular, environment and enjoyment.
Consideration and respect for others are of paramount importance in school, together with good manners. If teachers spend their time teaching in well-ordered classrooms, with a disciplined environment, they say that pupils are more likely to learn, and achieve their ambitions and goals.
Wide curriculum
As well as the basics of English, Maths and Science, there is also an emphasis on Sport and the Arts, as well as Technology.

To widen their knowledge, pupils are encouraged to take part in school trips, competitions and experiences outside school hours. There is a belief that those can be as valuable and rewarding as more formal lesson time in the classroom.
See for yourself at the Open Evening on Thursday 3rd October, from 5-8pm.
Holmfirth High School is at Heys Road, Thongsbridge, Holmfirth HD9 7SE.
