These memorable photos showcase life along a much loved city centre street linking New Briggate and Woodhouse Lane in the 1940s. Merrion Street is the focus of this wonderful collection of photos showcasing landmarks including the Garden of Rest, as well as shops and businesses along the thoroughfare throughout the decade. The images are published courtesy of photographic archive Leodis, which is run by Leeds Library & Information Service. They also run heritage blog The Secret Library Leeds, which provides a behind the scenes look at the Central Library and highlights from its special collections, including rare books hidden away in the stacks.
