You know when (usually older) people say '˜I remember when all this was fields'? Well, here's the proof of the pudding.
The Yorkshire Evening Post published a picture showing part of the 127-acres of land between Adel and Cookridge, where Holt Park Village was to be built (specifically between Holt Lane and Farrar Lane), creating homes for 4,000 people, together with shops, churches, pubs, car parks, schools and community buildings, including a library.
The story appeared in the YEP in January 1970.
Speaking of houses, a three-bed detached house on Manor Garth Estate, Kippax, would set you back £3.776, while a four-bed bungalow in Filey was going for £5,750, with a Georgian-style four-bed house with double garage in Roundhay for about £15,000.
