Enjoy a stroll down Boar Lane during the 1970s. These photos showcase the changing face of the well-known Leeds city centre street during a decade in which shopping habits started to change. It was home to carpet shops, restaurants, hotels and countless retailers including much loved fashion giant C&A. It also provided an access point via escalators to Bond Street Shopping Centre which opened in 1977. The centre was to be the final stage of the city’s redeveloped principal shopping area, known as the ‘Golden Square’.
