Looking down Queen Street towards the Town Hall (not visible) from the end of the pedestrian precinct at the Fountain Inn. The wide angle photo shows both sides of the street from Hainsworth garage and the Benefactory to just beyond the old Burton's, and especially emphasises the cast iron electric street lamps that are similar in design to those in the 1920s and 1930s. | David Atkinson Archive Photo: David Atkinson Archive

This had long given up business, and after several other supermarkets have failed to make it pay the building has been divided up into smaller units: Julie's Kiddie Korner, British Heart Foundation, Scope and a Job Centre on Queen Street and a bookies on Wesley Street. | David Atkinson Archive Photo: David Atkinson Archive
