These thought-provoking photos chart a year in the life of your Leeds at the end of the 1970s. They turn back the clock to 1979 and bring into focus a range of city centre landmarks as familiar streets such as Kirkgate and Briggate. They also turn the spotlight on life around the city suburbs with memories from Boston Spa, Woodlesford, Beeston, Wetherby, Yeadon, Pudsey and Kirkstall all featured. The images are published courtesy of Leeds Museums Service and Leeds Depoartment of Planning as well as others published courtesy of photographic archive Leodis, which is run by Leeds Library & Information Service. They also run heritage blog The Secret Library Leeds, which provides a behind the scenes look at the Central Library and highlights from its special collections, including rare books hidden away in the stacks.
