Hundreds of walkers pounded the pavements last night as a popular event returned to Leeds.
The Sunset Walk in aid of St Gemma’s Hospice saw more than 500 participants complete a six-kilometre route.
Starting at Roundhay Park at 6pm on Saturday, it took the walkers on a route through the park to the hospice gardens where patients at the hospice cheered their arrival, before they made their way back to the park.
Prior to the walk, there was a community event with food and entertainment in the park.
The event, now in its fourth year, celebrates the lives of loved ones and raises funds for the hospice's specialist care.
Kate Goldring, the chief enterprise and communications officer for the Moortown facility, said a staggering £35,000 has been raised so far, exceeding their original target.
She said a “huge thank you” was in order and added: “It means so much to us at St Gemma’s, so much of our funding comes from local community and we could not be more proud of the people who have come out tonight.
“There was a real sense of community which is what we are trying to build.
“We rely on our community so much, more than two-thirds of our funding comes from the community.”
