Britpop mainstays announced as latest headliners for Wakefield's Live at Tileyard North
Britpop stars Ocean Colour Scene have been announced as the latest headliners for Live at Tileyard North this summer.
The Birmingham-based indie group, who have sold almost two million records in the UK, will top the bill at the outdoor Wakefield venue on Saturday, August 29.
Joining them will be the exciting new guitar music from Wigan’s high-energy indie outfit The Lilacs, melodic Mancunian indie rockers M60 and Liverpool-born jangle-pop fourpiece, Keyside.
Live at Tileyard North will bring Wakefield’s first outdoor-concert series to life with two weeks of live music experiences in the courtyard of the impressive development.
The announcement comes after indie stars The Vaccines have been booked to play on Sunday, August 30. Pop singer Sophie Ellis Bextor will take to the stage on Thursday, August 27, and long-serving punk stalwarts, The Stranglers, on Friday, August 21.

Despite releasing their first self-titled album to low-key reviews in 1992, it was not until 1996 that Ocean Colour Scene’s popularity exploded with their follow-up album, Moseley Shoals.
Heavily backed by Oasis’ Noel Gallagher, and with tracks like The Day We Caught The Train, The Circle and the Chris Evan’s sponsored classic, The Riverboat Song, the band became a huge success, selling more than a million copies of the album.
Despite Moseley Shoals remaining the charts for 92 weeks, it was not until they released their third album, Marchin’ Already, did they land the coveted number-one spot in the album charts.
With 10 studio albums now under their belts, and with 1.78 million albums sold, they continue to attract huge crowds 30 years on.
Postcode pre-sale tickets for residents local to Tileyard North (WF1, WF2, WF3, WF4, WF5 and WF6) will open at 10am on Wednesday, January 29.
General sale opens at 10am on Friday 30 January.
