What’s the event?

K-pop group BTS will be debuting the choreography version of their smash hit Dynamite music video in Fortnite’s Party Royale.

Players will be able to watch BTS’ new version of the Dynamite music video in the game. The original YouTube video has garnered over 380 million views since it was released on 20 August 2020.

The song also broke the YouTube record for most views in a 24 hour period, earning over 100 million views. In just 20 minutes of its debut, Dynamite gathered over 10 million views and one million likes. Dynamite is the group's first song performed completely in English.

In an interview with NME, the K-pop sensation said that they hoped the Dynamite choreography would be easy to learn for fans.

“The choreography is cheerful and crisp and goes well with the song,” the group explained.

“The gestures and moves not only bring out the unique personalities and vibes of each member, but it’s also really catchy and easy to learn.

“As much as we want people to be uplifted by this tune, we hope a lot of people will be able to pick up the dance moves easily and groove away.”

Other musical acts like Marshmallow, Travis Scott, Anderson .Paak, and Dominic Fike have also performed at the Party Royale space.

Party Royale was launched by Epic earlier this year as a violence-free space situated on a completely separate island, designed for watching movies and concerts.

How to get involved

If this is your first time trying to drop into Party Royale to check out the Main Stage, then don’t worry - Fortnite has released a helpful guide for users to follow if you’re not sure what you’re doing.

Fortnite says, “Party Royale is a new experimental and evolving space in Fortnite where you can kick up your shoes and relax while enjoying minigames or join your friends to attend concerts, movies, and more!

“No need to worry about getting eliminated in Party Royale (there’s no combat and no building in Party Royale), so anyone who drops in can breathe easy!”

If you’re downloading Fortnite for the first time with plans to participate in a scheduled event, make sure you download the game ahead of time as download times can vary depending on a number of factors, such as your device and internet connection.

To get into Party Royale and watch a show at the Main Stage, press the “Change” box located in the bottom right corner of the lobby screen.

From there, different modes will appear on screen - select “Party Royale” and then press accept.

After you’ve accepted, you’ll be returned to the lobby screen - just press play to start.

You’ll spawn near The Plaza, at the centre of the map. In The Plaza, look for the ice cream shop called “SOFDEEZ”.

Facing the SOFDEEZ entrance, follow the road to the back-right, where you’ll see a disco sign, indicating that you’re on your way to the Main Stage. Cross the bridge and you’ll find yourself at the Main Stage. Using the map button, you’ll also be able to see the location of yourself and the Main Stage to help guide you as well.

“For big events in Party Royale, we recommend you join in 30 minutes to an hour ahead of showtime to secure your spot,” Fortnite explains.

The group was first launched in 2013 and have since skyrocketed to global fame. They have released four Korean language studio albums and four Japanese language studio albums.

BTS are the biggest K-Pop group to find international success, and fans of the group go by the name ARMY.

According to Billboard, their album Love Yourself: Tear, which is sung in Korean, became “the first primarily foreign-language No 1 album in over 12 years.”

They were also the first K-Pop group to win a Billboard Music Award for Top Social Artist in 2018, beating out competition like Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande.
