A massive boom in small scale craft breweries over the last couple of decades means that beer drinkers now find themselves with more local options than ever before.

While the date on everyone’s lips is 12 April - when beer gardens across the country will reopen - there’s no need to wait to get your hands on a cold can of something tasty, or three.

For those in Yorkshire who like to sup and support local, we’ve put together a list of the best independent craft breweries currently offering delivery in the UK.

Magic Rock

Starting out life in 2011, this Huddersfield Brewery has become a leader in the field with a multi-award winning range of beers.

The Magic Rock core range is fairly widely available when pubs are open, but for now you can buy all their beers, plus merchandise and glassware, direct from the brewery.

SALT Beer Factory started brewing in 2018 and has quickly established itself on the craft scene. They now work out of a Grade II Listed Edwardian Tram Shed building, with an award-winning, on-site taproom.

The brewery takes its name from its location, in the UNESCO World Heritage village of Saltaire.

Northern Monk

Another giant of the northern brewing scene, the Northern Monk team kicks out a wide range of beers from two breweries in the heart of Leeds.

Their refectory in the city is a must-visit once things open back up, but for now they’re delivering core range and special edition beers direct from their website.

As well as brewing some of the best tasting beers in Yorkshire, North Brewing Co can stake a claim to having opened one of the very first craft beer bars in Britain, with Leeds’ North Bar in 1997.

With multiple awards under their belt and regular collaborations with some of the best names in international brewing, North has earned its reputation as one of the most highly regarded breweries in the region.

John Hickling began brewing beer in his kitchen while working full time in IT for a bank. What started out as a passion project has, in a relatively short period, blossomed into one of the stalwarts of the UK’s craft beer scene.

Based in Hebden Bridge, Halifax, Vocation is known for a high quality and affordable core range, as well as a taste - and talent - for experimentation.

Turning Point

A relative newcomer on the scene, although you wouldn’t know by the taste of their beers, Turning Point produces some of North Yorkshire’s finest brews, each one with a gorgeous can illustration from talented designer, Lottie Walsh.

Recently relocated to a new facility with on-site taproom in Knaresborough, you can add this to your list of must-visits once things open up.

Bad Seed

“All adventures start with a Bad Seed of an idea”, according to Bad Seed Brewery. It’s certainly true for James and Chris, two home-brewers who decided to strike out on their own with a microbrewery in Malton, North Yorkshire in 2013.

A few years on, they’ve moved to a larger facility in the same area, from which they produce a range of innovative beers using high quality ingredients.

Triple Point

Triple Point Brewing is run by father and son team, Mike and George Brook, out of a repossessed brewing plant in Sheffield.

Perhaps Hull’s foremost brewers, the team behind Atom Brewing Co are trained scientists with strong links to the local university, and a passion for high quality craft beer.

While their range is anything but, the company’s ethos is about keeping things simple, with the sole goal of creating great, highly drinkable beer.

Brew York

Though they might be known for their eye-catching designs, it’s certainly not a case of style over substance for the Brew York team.

They produce beautiful beers in casks, kegs and cans which can be found in many craft bars, and of course their own venues in Leeds, York and Pocklington, East Yorkshire.
