The terrified couple kept a diary listing 63 separate incidents of abuse - including a violent attack - at the hands of Michael Boswell over nine months.

Leeds Crown Court heard details of some of the most serious incidents, including:

June 22, 2017

Boswell punched the man in the face, knocking out two teeth. The attack happened after the victim challenged Boswell over threats he had made to a boy.

August 21, 2017

The couple were threatened in the street while out walking their dog.

Boswell stood outside the couple’s home and accused the man of being a paedophile as other neighbours looked on. He then made references to the man’s late wife. He accused his new partner of being a “wannabe”, claiming she was trying to be like the dead woman.

November 2, 2017

Boswell placed an orange flashing light in the window of his home and shined it across the street into the couple’s bedroom window.

He also set up strobe lighting of a Christmas decoration which he projected across the street into their home. The couple struggled to sleep at night as Boswell continued to torment them with the lights for three months.

November 19, 2017

Boswell played loud music at 6.15am and shouted “paedophile” at the man.

January 6, 2018

Boswell approached the woman in the street and shouted a torrent of abuse at her, making references to her partner’s late wife.

He also kicked the man’s car, causing damage. Boswell was aware that the vehicle had sentimental value to the victim as it had been bought for him by his terminally ill mother.

February 24, 2018

Boswell stood outside the couple’s home and shouted abuse at the man through the window. He sang songs containing the name of the man’s late wife and said: “The best thing (she) ever did was get away from you.”

November 8, 2018

The couple were threatened by Boswell as they sat outside a courtroom waiting to give evidence against him at a trial before magistrates in Leeds.

Boswell was arrested after saying to them: “What goes around, comes around.”
