Yorkshire nostalgia: Zoe Spink beauty queen of 1970s
Yorkshire's Zoe Spink, pictured in 1970 after winning a TV Times beauty pageant. Zoe was continuing a family tradition and following in the footsteps of her mother, Betty Spink, also a beauty queen... while Zoe's daughter, Suzanne also went on to compete for similar titles.
Zoe later became Miss Silver Jubilee in 1977 and was crowned by Elton John, having won Miss Great Britain earlier that year. Her sister Gay was also a beauty queen.
The family tradition began by chance in 1948 when former ballroom dancing teacher Betty, then 21, was on holiday in Morecambe and her husband Neville persuaded her to enter a beauty competition at the local swimming pool, which she went on to win.
