Yorkshire lightning strike train delays: Which lines are affected and where your tickets are valid

Travel advice for Leeds & Sheffield

A fault with the signalling system between Leeds and York means that some lines are blocked. As a result, trains between these stations may be delayed by up to 60 minutes.

Disruption is expected until 15:30.

There is also disruption in the Doncaster area.

Advice for Northern customers:

Northern advise customers not to travel at this time in the Yorkshire area due to severe infrastructure failure caused by lightning strikes.

The only services Northern are able to operate at this time in the affected area are:

Sheffield to Lincoln

Sheffield to Manchester Piccadilly

Hull to Scarborough

All other routes are blocked in the Yorkshire area at this time.

Ticket restrictions for today have been lifted. Passengers who hold tickets dated for travel today may travel tomorrow if preferred.

Travel advice for Doncaster, Hull, York & Wakefield

A number of signalling problems in the Doncaster area are causing major disruption to trains running through the station.

Trains running through Doncaster may be cancelled, delayed by up to 70 minutes or revised. Disruption is expected until the end of service.

Replacement buses are in place at Wakefield Westgate, York and Newcastle.

Additional information:

Hull Trains services will divert via Goole until further notice. As a result, they will not serve Selby or Howden. Replacement road transport will be provided where required.
