Under the premise ‘build it and they will come’ it’s likely the announcement will bring other big names hot on its heels.

The Thorpe Park development is a large scale office, retail and leisure development led by Yorkshire property firm Scarborough Group which could create 3,000 construction jobs and a further 10,000 as businesses move into the site.

Roads built as part of the project will also unlock land for thousands of new homes.

Undoubtedly with its success as a business location now established, Thorpe Park, is one of Leeds City Region’s key prospects for further economic growth opportunities for the people of east Leeds.

We welcome the developers’ ambition and vision - to establish the site as a business location to rival the best in Europe, with a commitment to provide the local community with a valuable asset as well as a significant number of new jobs and a boost to the local economy.

The 800,000 sq ft business park already has more than 60 occupiers including IBM, national Grid, Kier, Laing O’Rourke, Atkins, BAM and United Utilities.

Leeds and the broader city region packs a powerful economic punch. Schemes such as the one at Thorpe Park will ensure it stays that way.
