YEP Best of Health Awards 2016: Name health heroes in your community

..
.
Health workers who are based in communities carry out vital roles in our area - and we want YOU to help us praise them.

To recognise the important role that the likes of pharmacists, dentists and opticians play in local areas provide, the Community Health Award category is returning for a second year to the Yorkshire Evening Post’s Best of Health Awards.

After nominations opened last week, the YEP is highlighting the vital work that health workers embedded in local areas put in, and the extra lengths they go to offer residents the best service possible.

Readers have until October 19 to put forward their superstars of health for recognition in our fifth annual Best of Health Awards, sponsored by Sovereign Health Care.

Nicola Furbisher, editor of the YEP, said: “We hope all our readers will again support these awards and send in their nominations now to help us honour some real superstars such as those health workers who play vital roles in our communities.”

Potential nominees for the award could be a proactive dentist who has treated your family for generations, a friendly pharmacist who has solved a long-standing issue, an optician who has changed your life or someone at a walk-in-centre or other NHS service who has made a difference to your area.

Nominees might be a health visitor who has become synonymous with an area - or a care worker who has brought local people together in some way. They can be community-minded health staff in the public, private or third sector.
