Why Kaiser Chief Ricky teamed up with Leeds United

Now Kaiser Chiefs lead singer Ricky Wilson has netted another high-profile role at Elland Road.

He has been named as an ambassador for the Leeds United Foundation, the club’s official charity.

And the former Leeds College of Art and Design lecturer can’t wait to start doing his bit for a cause that helps more than 50,000 people a year.

Ricky said: “Supporting the foundation’s work with the disabled, those with dementia, the unemployed, underprivileged children and the elderly is something I am incredibly proud to do.

“It’s vital that we listen to and help our communities wherever we can and we will do as much as we can to help the Leeds United Foundation.

“There are some really exciting plans for the charity and it’s a real pleasure to help them out.”

Ricky isn’t the only well-known name giving his support, with United cult hero Vinnie Jones and boxing champ Josh Warrington having also become ambassadors in recent times.

Simon Fox, head of partnership development at the foundation, said: “He is a fabulous coup and a great addition to our world-class ambassadors roster alongside Vinnie Jones and Josh Warrington.

“Ricky is proud of his Leeds heritage and attended Leeds Grammar School which is now the training HQ for our hugely popular Leeds United Foundation Girls Centre of Excellence.

“He is a great role model for any aspiring youngster who wants to achieve their dreams and we’re delighted to have him on board and help us deliver our ambitious plans.”

Ricky already combines his day job in Kaiser Chiefs with his commitments as a coach on BBC One singing competition The Voice.

He has also signed up alongside fellow Leeds lad Chris Moyles as a DJ with newly-launched Radio X and is presenting a music and comedy panel show on Sky 1 called Bring The Noise.
