This mob of mischievous meerkats at Tropical World are just some of the furry critters spreading the love in Leeds.

And they have been joined by some even smaller lovable guests who are also hoping to capture that loving feeling.

Hailing originally from the dry, arid desert environment of South Africa, a diminutive small flock of Black-Cheeked Lovebirds are settling into their new surroundings after moving north from their previous home in Norfolk.

Councillor Debra Coupar, executive member for communities, said: “Throughout the year Tropical World really does offer something for everyone.

“But with Valentine’s Day just around the corner, it is lovely that visitors with a love of romance will have the chance to take a peek and enjoy our newest arrivals.

“They certainly do live up to their name due to their complete devotion to each other!”

And the loving feeling is well and truly spreading across the city after unlucky in love Boris found his perfect match in Pudsey.

The skeleton, who has become a popular attraction at Coffee and Cake House, was worried he would have nobody to love this weekend.

But luckily the shop’s owner Martin Greenwood came up with an unusual mannequin date for his friend.

He said: “He’s generated quite a bit of custom for me and he dresses up at special occasions.

“He was an elf at Christmas.”

Mr Greenwood added: “Easter is coming up so we will have to see what he has got up his sleeve.”
