When will Storm Dennis hit Leeds? Full weather forecast as heavy rain and wind set to BATTER city

Heavy rain and strong winds will batter the city this weekend as Storm Dennis hit Leeds.

There is a yellow weather warning in place for both wind and rain, with wind gusts expected to exceeded 50 miles per hour.

The Met Office has warned that heavy rain may cause a further risk of flooding over the weekend as the ground is already saturated from Storm Ciara.

Storm Dennis is expected to bring a range of issues including delays and cancellations to transport services, damage to power supplies and large coastal waves.

Highways England has warned drivers to be careful when travelling.

The agency said: "Storm Dennis is going to affect all regions with strong winds & heavy rain this weekend.

"Please take care when travelling & consider whether your journey is necessary before setting out."

When will Storm Dennis hit?

Storm Dennis will arrive on early Saturday morning - however, the weather will begin to worsen throughout Friday.

Friday will be generally fine with some icy patches across West Yorkshire/.

The early mist and fog will clear and a strengthening breeze and thickening cloud will begin to form as the morning goes on.

A blustery band of rain then moves east after midday, clearing to sunny spells and isolated showers by the evening.

Maximum temperatures will be nine degrees.

The evening will be generally dry but strong winds will develop over night.

Saturday will be a mainly dry start but will soon turn very wet with gales, due to Storm Dennis.

Rain will be heavy and persistent at times, especially across the Pennines, and continuing overnight.

Maximum temperatures will be twelve degrees.

It will stay very windy on Sunday and Monday with frequent heavy and blustery showers.

Showers and winds are expected to gradually ease on Tuesday.
