Serious warning given about Leeds' black ice risk during Monday rush hour after weekend snow

There has been a warning given about the serious risks of black ice around Leeds through rush hour today (Monday).

It comes after Leeds was blanketed in snow over the weekend.

The Leeds City Council resilience and emergencies team issued the warning and said that although there was a full grit run of the primary road network at 4am on Monday, drivers should still take extra care and drive safely.

Secondary routes have also been gritted following the first run.

The Council team tweeted: "Black ice is a serious risk around Leeds on Sunday evening and into Monday morning rush hour.

"Full gritting run of the Primary road network at 4pm tonight and then again at 4am tomorrow morning, followed by gritting of Secondary routes.

"Please take extra care and drive safely."
