Police are seeking witnesses and dashcam footage after a crash left a motorcyclist with life-changing injuries.

It happened on the Outer Ring Road in Shadwell, Leeds, at around 4.15pm yesterday.

The man’s Honda motorbike crashed with a Peugeot 2008 car, according to a police appeal.

The rider, a man in his fifties, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Anyone with dashcam footage of the collision or what happened leading up to it is asked to contact the Major Collision Enquiry Team on 101, or by using the options on the West Yorkshire Police website. The log reference is 1324 of 9 June.

Two men have been arrested after an attack in Farsley.

The attack happened in Town Street at about 10.40pm on Saturday, 29 May.

A 19-year-old man suffered serious injuries in the incident.

Police issued a CCTV appeal of the three people they wanted to speak to.

They have all been identified.

West Yorkshire Police confirmed that two men, aged 17 and 23, were arrested.

They were both bailed pending further enquiries.

Boris Johnson will relax the number of guests legally allowed at weddings – even if the roadmap is pushed back by two weeks.

The prime minister, who will make his decision on the easing of Covid restrictions on June 14, is reportedly determined to lift the 30-person rule at weddings, civil partnership ceremonies and receptions.

It comes as Boris Johnson married Carrie Symonds in a low-key ceremony on 29 May at Westminster Cathedral.

Police have confirmed that the incident under investigation in the Lincoln Green area today is believed to have involved a firearm.

Armed officers were deployed after reports of a man being chased by three young men before a gun was discharged and “loud bangs heard”.

Police have placed a corner around flats in Lincoln Green in Leeds city centre this morning.

At least eight officers are on the scene at Cherry Row alongside police vehicles.

The cordon stretched across the front of Speedline taxi rank and around the grass area at the front of the flats.

One eye-witness told the YEP: “There are eight police officers here.

“The road is all taped off and all behind the flats on the grass is taped off.

“There is a police van blocking the road off aswell.”

The circumstances of the incident are not yet known.

The YEP has contacted West Yorkshire Police for comment.

On the morning of June 10, skygazers will be able to see nearly a third of the sun being blocked out by the moon in what is known as an annular eclipse.

An annular eclipse occurs when the sun and moon are exactly in line with the Earth, but the apparent size of the moon is smaller than that of the sun.

This causes the sun to appear as a very bright ring, or annulus, in a phenomenon dubbed as the “ring of fire”.

But weather permitting, observers in the UK and Ireland will see a crescent sun instead of a ring, as this will be a partial eclipse.

The Met Office has said parts of the UK will see clouds covering the skies although most regions are expected to remain dry.

Met Office spokesman Stephen Dixon said: “Thursday morning will see more cloud than recent days over east, south-east and much of southern England though some good breaks are likely with sunny spells.

“Similar conditions are likely over east and north-east Scotland with all these areas having the best visibility of the solar eclipse.

“There will be clear spells over much of central and south-east England.

“Much of the far south-west of England, Wales, Northern Ireland, western and central Scotland will have more in the way of cloud cover, and whilst this may thin by day, the likelihood is that visibility of the eclipse will be somewhat fleeting.

“It will be dry for many, particularly eastern areas, whilst western areas and high ground here are more likely to see some light rain and drizzle.”
