Fortunately, the weather is set to take a turn for the better over the coming days. After a milder start to the week, it will get significantly warmer in the next few days.

The Met Office is currently forecasting scorching temperatures in excess of 20C on Wednesday (April 8) in particular. It is set to turn a tad colder again as we head into the weekend.

  • Monday, April 6 - sunny intervals - highs of 14C, lows of 4C
  • Tuesday, April 7 - sunny - highs of 19C, lows of 8C
  • Wednesday, April 8 - sunny - highs of 21C, lows of 10C
  • Thursday, April 9 - light rain - highs of 12C, lows of 4C
  • Friday, April 10 - cloudy - highs of 12C, lows of 6C
  • Saturday, April 11 - cloudy - highs of 12C, lows of 4C
  • Sunday, April 12 - cloudy - highs of 13C, lows of 4C

In its verdict for the second half of the week, the Met Office writes: “Mostly dry Wednesday, generally cloudier although still with warm bright or sunny spells. Lighter winds. Thursday colder, breezy with sunshine and showers. Friday, cloud, rain and stronger winds moving east.”

Looking further ahead into the later part of April, the forecaster adds: “Changeable with Atlantic frontal systems moving across the UK at times. These will bring spells of unsettled weather, with showers or longer spells of rain and a risk of strong winds.

“The wettest conditions will probably be in the northwest of the UK, with a risk of snow on high ground in the north. Drier and brighter interludes with lighter winds will develop between frontal systems. Temperatures are expected to be close to average overall, perhaps with some colder spells in the north and warmer conditions in the south at times.”
