Flooding in Leeds: 'Immediate action required' warnings and flood alerts across city as snow settles

There are a number of flood warnings and alerts in place across Leeds this morning (Monday) as Storm Darcy hits the UK and snow begins to settle across the city.

Storm Darcy has already brought floods to the city this weekend, and a yellow Met Office weather warning for snow is in place until 11:59pm on Wednesday.

The warning means roads and railways are likely to be affected with longer journey times by road, train and bus services.

There is a small chance of longer travel delays in place with some stranded vehicles and passengers.

The Met Office also warned that there could be some injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces, with icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths.

There is a small chance that power cuts will occur and other services, such as mobile phone coverage, may be affected.

A flood warning means flooding is expected and immediate action is required.

The Government's flood information service includes guidance on how to act when a flood warning has been issued:

- Turn off gas, water and electricity

- Move things upstairs or to safety

- Move family, pets and car to safety

- Check flood warnings

Over the weekend, Leeds residents were forced to bail water from their homes after flooding - watch the footage here as residents can be seen using shovels to keep the water away from their homes.

Other Leeds residents also rallied to save their homes from Storm Darcy flooding in Pudsey and Wortley.
