Driver left 'shaken' after Landrover is struck by lightning in Yorkshire Dales

A heavy thunderstorm hit parts of Yorkshire this evening, bringing torrential rain, thunder and lightning.
Firefighters were called to the Dales after a Landrover Freelander got caught in the storm.

Hide AdThe car was struck by lightning which blew out the rear window and burst the front tyre.


The driver was left 'very shaken' but was not injured.
A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Fire said: "The storm that passed over the Dales brought an interesting incident whereby a Landrover Freelander was struck by lightning which blew out the rear window and burst the drivers front tyre.
"The male inside was very shaken but unharmed. Crews assisted changing wheel."
