Video: WW1 veteran’s family helps children scatter poppies

SCHOOLCHILDREN from Dewsbury planted poppies in a church graveyard to commemorate the centenary of the outbreak of World War 1 as part of a series of events organised by the new Church of England diocese of West Yorkshire and the Dales.

They were joined by the relataives of a local soldier who was kiiled in action on the Somme in 1916. They’d travelled from their new home in Australia to find out more about their ancestor and his grandson has written a book about his life and times.
