To celebrate the 100th anniversary of the birth of the beloved children’s author, this year’s York Maze features four of his most famous characters. Willy Wonka, Fantastic Mr Fox, The Enormous Crocodile and The BFG have all been imprinted into the shrubbery and make for an impressive bird’s eye view. Previous years have seen sketches into the ground depicting dalecks from Dr Who, Harry Potter from the magical J. K Rowling series, James Bond and last year’s Thunderbirds theme. Created from over one million living, growing maize plants, the maze is the largest maze in the UK and boasts 20 different rides and attractions.
