Video: Leeds Lego crest made of 201,000 bricks is finally complete

Schools, businesses and residents took part in the Just One Day event, which aims to raise money for the Lord Mayor’s chosen charity – Specialist Autism Services.

Fundraisers including the Lego building event were held across the city yesterday, as well as fancy dress fundraisers and even a fire walk.

The Lord Mayor of Leeds, councillor Judith Chapman, visited Leeds West Academy after pupils raised £1,000 for the appeal.

She also visited Grimes Dyke Primary School to thank them for their support.

Coun Chapman said: “I would like to offer a massive thank you to everyone who worked so hard and gave up their free time to help raise money for my ‘Just One Day’ appeal.

“It was a truly unforgettable day, and it was lovely to be able to visit pupils and staff at two of our city schools who have done so much to support the appeal, before we were able to put the final brick in to complete our giant city crest made entirely out of Lego and then host a fire walk on Millennium Square!”

Coun Blake added: “Now that the Leeds Lego Crest is completed, we want to give it a new home where the public can both see and enjoy it on a regular basis.

“Please keep your eye out for an announcement very soon on how you might be able to display the Leeds Lego Crest in the future.”
