Two people have been taken to hospital after a car crashed into a tree in Leeds.

It happened in Temple Newsam Road, Halton, on Saturday evening.

West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service were called out to the scene at 8.45pm.

Two people were trapped in a car after it had crashed into a tree.

They were rescued by firefighters and taken to hospital by ambulance.

In a statement on its website, West Yorkshire Fire Service said: "One car [crashed] into tree, two casualties trapped, extrication carried out by fire service personnel and all transferred to hospital by ambulance.

"Two appliances from Killingbeck attended."
