This is what Greek Street looks like now as £460,000 revamp reaches 'key milestone'

Work on a £462,000 project to transform the popular nightspot reached a "key milestone" last week, Leeds City Council's Highways and Transportation department said.

New surfacing has been laid in the middle of the road to create a level surface.

The street, which is full of bars and restaurants, has been partly pedestrianised since 2016.

Under the new plans, there will be longer pedestrianised hours and the road the new surface will improve accessibility.

It is hoped that businesses in the area will take advantage of the new layout post-lockdown, with more outside seating to help create a continental feel.

The council secured £250,000 funding for the project in December 2018 in a joint partnership with local businesses.

Work is still ongoing in the area and is expected to finish in mid-July.
