The M62 was closed in both directions between Junction 32 for Pontefract and Junction 31 for Normanton.

Highways England reported earlier that the incident was causing hour-long delays on the westbound carriageway and five miles of queues.

All lanes have since reopened with Highways England via Twitter reporting: " currently delays of 30 mins above normal travel time, so please allow extra time if travelling the area."
