Major Leeds city centre road closed in both directions after building damaged in high winds

A major Leeds city centre road has been closed in both directions after a building was damaged due to the high winds.

Clay Pit Lane is closed to all vehicles and pedestrians.

The road is expected to stay closed until Monday afternoon.

Diversions have been put in place.

A spokeswoman for Leeds Council said: "Please be aware Clay Pit Lane in Leeds city centre remains closed in both directions to all vehicles and pedestrians due to damage to a building caused by high winds.

"Road expected to stay closed until at least Monday afternoon. Diversion signage in place."

According to The AA traffic news, the closure affects Clay Pit Lane from the A64 to Woodhouse Lane, near to the First Direct Arena.
