M62 closed between Tingley and Lofthouse after driver seriously injured in crash

There was a crash at around 4.30pm on the westbound carriageway between junction 28 at Tingley and junction 29 at Lofthouse.

A person has been seriously injured, West Yorkshire Police confirmed.

Traffic was being held as police closed the westbound carriageway.

People are being advised to avoid the area.

West Yorkshire Police said in a Twitter statement: "Police are currently in attendance at a serious road traffic collision on the M62 between J29 and J28 Westbound.

"One vehicle involved and one person has been seriously injured.

"Full closure of the motorway is in place.

"Please avoid the area."
