Currently, the HS2 route through Leeds cuts through several housing estates and cuts across motorways which will cause years of disruption and delays for demoltion and construction. This is how Leeds will be affected, according to HS2's own documents, if the route DOES go ahead as planned.

9. The M1 motorway
Delays and diversions will hit: the M1 junctions 44 and 45, the M1 junctions 30 and 31, M1 (junction 47), in both directions.

As well as 11 roads being permanently closed, a playing pitch and part of the outdoor space associated with Hunslet Club on Hillidge Road will be demolished.

Parking in Leeds city centre will be lost, while roads including Jack Lane will be shut for several years
12. Weet Wood bulldozed
Land required for construction would mean temporary loss of 75 per cent of Weet Wood, of which 25 per cent would be permanently bulldozed. 15 per cent of Hawk's Nest Wood will also be gone.
