Train lines blocked due to points failure near Leeds

A points failure between Leeds and Wakefield Kirkgate is causing train delays.

The failure, near Normanton, is disrupting services between Leeds and Sheffield and beyond, via Barnsley, and services between Huddersfield and Castleford.

Express services from Leeds towards Sheffield via Barnsley will be required to divert additionally via Castleford adding approximately 20 minutes to journey times.

Network Rail staff are on site investigating the issue.

Train operator Northern said disruption was expected until at least noon.
