Police appeal after cyclist, 72, seriously injured

A pensioner, 72, is in hospital after being left seriously injured in a collision with a car in Otley yesterday.

The incident happened around 10am on Friday morning on Leeds Road, at the junction with East Chevin Lane and Gay Lane. 

A grey VW Golf was travelling uphill along Gay Lane, away from Otley town centre, when it stopped at the junction of East Chevin Lane and Leeds Road.

A cyclist was travelling downhill along Leeds Road in the direction of Otley town centre.

When the cyclist approached the junction with East Chevin Lane, the car and cyclist collided. 

The cyclist was taken to Leeds General Infirmary for medical treatment. 

Witnesses are asked to call police on 101.
