A key bridge in Leeds is set for closure next month.

Wetherby Bridge, located where the A661 Boston Road crosses the River Wharfe, is set for a three night closure next month.

The road closure is to allow for the principal inspection of the bridge. It was rescheduled from April 2024 after the underbridge unit broke down.

A spokesperson for Leeds City Council said: “Wetherby Bridge is being closed to allow access for a routine inspection over a three night period from June 12-14 inclusive, from 8pm until 6am.

“Diversions will be in place while the inspection is being carried out and we thank road users for their patience.”

The diversion route for the three overnight closures, is:

  • Approaching from the south: from the roundabout (Boston Road, A58, A168) take the A168.
  • Continue to the roundabout and follow the A168.
  • At the roundabout (A168, York Road, Hudson Way) take York Road until you are at the junction with B6164.
  • Turn left on B6164 to approach the bridge or right to continue as if you had crossed it.
  • The diversion from the north is the reverse route.
