Traffic disruption as major road closes in Leeds after serious collision
A late-night crash in Leeds brought significant disruption on Sunday morning.
West Yorkshire Police put several road closures in place around following the collision, affecting traffic on the A61 through Moortown.

The Harrogate Bus Company confirmed that its services had been impacted, with the 36 service forced to divert. A spokesperson said: “Due to the ongoing police closure of the A61 in Moortown, Leeds, the 36 is needing to divert between Scott Hall Road roundabout and Alwoodley Gates towards Leeds. Buses to Harrogate are operating as usual.”
While the route towards Harrogate has since reopened, the carriageway heading into Leeds remains closed.
As a result, the 36 will not be serving the following stops:
- St John’s Church
- Primley Park Avenue
- Sandhill Mount
- Sandmoor Drive
- Wigton Lane
Motorists are being advised to plan extra time for their journeys and to seek alternative routes where possible.
West Yorkshire Police have been contacted for more information.
