Town ready for first duck race

Hundreds of bright yellow ducks are to be released into Otley's River Wharfe next weekend in the town's first ever grand charity duck race.

A total of 1,000 yellow rubber ducks are to be released into the water with help from Wharfe Valley Scouts and Cubs, who are among the charities set to benefit from the event.

Proceeds will go to Bramhope Scouts and Cubs as well as Otley Action for Older People and Otley Carnival beneficiaries; Yorkshire Cancer Research, Wheatfield’s Hospice and Behind Closed Doors.

The fun race is to be held next Saturday, June 25, from 11am. Sponsors Adlington are to sell entries to the race for £1 at their stall at Otley Carnival this Saturday, June 18, or at their riverside base.
