Time to nominate Leeds' shining stars for the YEP Christmas Honours 2016

The Yorkshire Evening Post wants to hear from you about ordinary people who have done extraordinary things over the past 12 months.

The YEP Christmas Honours, which we will announce on Christmas Eve, will celebrate the achievements of people from all walks of life who deserve to see their efforts recognised.

Our stars of 2016 will be those who have helped to make Leeds special, defied difficulties, gone above and beyond the call of duty and refused to give up, both in the public eye and behind the scenes.

But we need your help to tell us who you think deserves this accolade.

They could be a teacher, neighbour, family member, or from any field such as sport, community or charity – anyone whose efforts you think should be highlighted.

YEP Christmas heroes in the past have included schoolgirl Cody Hartley, who equipped her school with life-saving defibrillators, Leeds nurse Lizzie Marmont who spent Christmas Day in Sierra Leone treating Ebola patients, The Tour Makers and champion boxer Josh ‘Warrior’ Warrington.

YEP Editor Nicola Furbisher said: “We want to hear about Leeds’ brightest stars of 2016 – the people who have demonstrated determination, integrity and compassion.

“Last year, the response to our Christmas Honours was incredible, with many keen to showcase just what the people of Leeds are capable of.

“We hope for more of the same this year – please get involved so we can give these amazing people the recognition they deserve.”

Email your nominations to [email protected] by Monday, December 5.

The Honours will be announced on Christmas Eve, December 24.
