Taylor Wimpey have made this a possibility for hundreds of families across Yorkshire and beyond who have a sick child undergoing lifesaving treatment. With their generous donation of £10,000, The Sick Children’s Trust will keep families together by supporting them with free ‘Home from Home’ accommodation, as well as emotional and practical support.
“In Yorkshire, we currently have three ‘Homes from Home’ supporting families with seriously ill children undergoing treatment at Leeds General Infirmary and Sheffield Children’s Hospital, so on behalf of every family we support, we’d like to say thank you to Taylor Wimpey for their generous donation.”
The Sick Children’s Trust was founded in 1982 by two paediatric specialists who believed that having parents on hand during hospital treatment benefited a child’s recovery. The charity currently runs ten ‘Homes from Home’ across the UK, supporting up to 146 families every night, 365 days a year. It costs the charity £30 to support a family for one night.
John Murphy, managing director for Taylor Wimpey Yorkshire, comments: “The Sick Children’s Trust is a fantastic charity that does amazing work. We are so delighted that we could offer it our full support, and would like to thank everyone at Taylor Wimpey Yorkshire who helped to raise this significant sum of money.
