Take a seat - make a summer splash with statement chair

With spring officially underway, Pantone has released its top 10 colours for the season.

The palette of bright and earthy shades is described by Pantone as a mixture of vitality, relaxation, and the great outdoors, and includes Pink Yarrow, Pale Dogwood, Island Paradise, Hazelnut and Greenery.

Simon Nicholson, Furniture Buying Director at ScS, one of the UK’s leading sofa and carpet specialists, believes the perfect way to add a splash of Pantone’s colours of the moment in to your home is to introduce a statement chair to create an ultra-modern look.

Simon said: “There has been a recent focus on neutral colours for the home, but we are beginning to see a demand for bold, contrasting colours and fabrics, allowing people to add a pop of colour to their living space.

"Whether it be for a spare bedroom, hallway or living room, there are some fantastic ranges of chairs out there, in a multitude of fresh colours, that can be used to make a real style statement throughout the home.

“The Jamesy accent chair takes inspiration from Pantone’s blue ‘Island Paradise’ shade, while our Cookie collection takes inspiration from Pantone’s colour of the year Greenery. Geometric patterns are also one of this year’s hottest looks, helping you to add a modern touch to your home. Alternatively, plaid or floral patterned chairs work well for adding fresh shades into your home all year round.”

“If you’re not sold on patterned styles, you can make just as much of a statement using colour alone. Whether that’s something earthy like a green or hazelnut, or something brighter such as orange or pink, choosing an armchair or loveseat in a standout colour can have a huge impact, and give your room an instant lift.”
