Suspect sought after fleeing Leeds courtroom

Police are appealing for information from the public as they try to trace a man who escaped from lawful custody in Leeds.

West Yorkshire Police would like to speak to anyone who has seen or has information about the whereabouts of 19-year-old Ryan Ellis, of Colwyn Mount, Leeds.

Ellis escaped from custody at Leeds Crown Court on Tuesday this week while being sentenced for the breach of a court order.

The teenager fled the court building and made off in the direction of The Headrow in the city centre.

He is known to have an association with areas of south Leeds.

In a statement issued yesterday lunchtime, chief inspector Ian Croft, of Leeds District Police, said: “We are appealing for information to locate Ellis who is known to frequent the Beeston and Hunslet area of Leeds.

“Anyone who sees him is asked to ring Leeds District CID on 101.

“Information about his location can also be given anonymously to the independent Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.”
