Survey shows morale of workers at hospitals in Leeds '˜is getting better'

Bosses at Leeds hospitals claim staff morale is on the up following the release of the NHS staff survey results.

The survey, which was addressed to NHS workers across the country, saw Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (LTH) staff saying that they were more likely to recommend the trust as a place to work or receive treatment than they were last year.

Out of 59 key indicators the trust significantly improved in 28, while staff engagement with the survey also improved.

Independent research organisation, the Picker Institute, carried out the census survey and half of all LTH staff responded compared to the 38 per cent national average.

Julian Hartley, trust chief executive, claims the survey showed “improvements in staff morale results”. He said: “Working in the NHS can be extremely challenging but we know that where staff feel valued, care provided by the organisation improves.”

He added that there is still much for LTH to do to improve.

LTH teams will now develop local action plans to address issues to come from the survey’s findings.
