Stars launch new bike-friendly routes

PARALYMPIC hero David Stone was back in the saddle in London yesterday for the launch of an initiative called Pedal On UK.

The medal-winning Leeds cyclist is pictured with reality TV star Lydia Bright as they rode along new bike-friendly routes in the capital. They were also joined by Olympic legend Dame Kelly Holmes.

Organised by transport charity Sustrans, Pedal On UK runs until September 7 and aims to highlight the expansion of walking and cycling routes nationwide.

Rides and other events will take place in a string of towns and cities up and down the country, including Bradford on September 1.

Dame Kelly said: “I just love the feeling of freedom that cycling gives you, and it is a nice change and relief from the pounding on the streets you get with running.”
