AN UNUSUAL visitor has spent the Christmas holidays at a West Yorkshire park,

Mr Hemingway, who works as a human resources manager at Wakefield Council, said: “It has been out in the wild for a few weeks now. People put out fat balls and things like that for the wild birds, which may be helping keep it going.

It must have escaped from somewhere. Presumably it is someone’s pet or it may be from a collector’s aviary.” Mr Hemingway said it is the first time he has spotted a parrot at Pugneys in 25 years’ birdwatching at the park.

Last month a rare Blyth’s Pipit was spotted near the Calder Wetlands site, which is close to from Pugneys Country Park.
