Spooky addresses fit for Halloween

Research by the Royal Mail showed that almost 1,000 streets or houses were called cemetery, while other popular Halloween-themed names included Spook Hill, Cobweb or Warlock.

Steve Rooney, head of Royal Mail’s address management unit, said: “Halloween is a big deal across the UK so we wanted to find out whether the public interest was reflected in street and house names.

“Given the variety of fantastic examples we found, Brits clearly aren’t too scared by the thought of a spooky address.”

The top 10 most popular scary street names were Cemetery, Grave, Hanging, Hallows, Candy, Devils, Warlock, Witch, Broomstick and Howl, while for houses they were Cemetery, Candy, Cobweb, Hallows, Hanging, Cauldron, Witch, Wizard, Haunt and Bat.
