South Leeds community praised as wedding winning couple bag Â£22,000 package

A loved-up couple, who raised more than Â£8,400 within 18 days in a bid to win their dream wedding, have thanked the Beeston community for their support.

Matthew Wood and Ashleigh Harder, from Beeston, were announced as the winners of Radio Aire’s Win Your Wedding competition today.

All the funds generated will be donated to the station’s Cash for Kids charity after the couple raised more money than five other couples.

They have won a dream wedding package worth £22,000 at the Holiday Inn, in Garforth, which will take place next year.

Ashleigh said: “We can’t believe it and it’s made me realise how proud I am to come from Beeston, as the people of Beeston have been amazing and so generous.”

The six couples taking part in this year’s competition raised a total of £27,815.02 for Cash for Kids, which supports disadvantaged children across West Yorkshire.

Charity manager Lisa Sullivan said: “It has been wonderful to see all the great fundraising they have all been doing with such passion and enthusiasm and we are so proud of every couple.”
